A Policemans Life

                                                               K.E. Gaskill

I was born when they badged me,

all swaddled in Blue.

My outlook on life,

started anew.

2008 LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN
FRIDAY, MAY 23RD AT 8 AM

Good News-The Boulder Police Torch Run Committee has changed
our Torch Run route from the harsh Diagonal Highway to the heavenly Creek Path

Like in the past, the first mile and half will be a walk/parade.  We will start in front of the PD and walk South along 33rd Street to the North sidewalk of Arapahoe.  From there, we will walk East to the 38th Street underpass for the Creek Path.  We will continue West on the Creek Path to Scott Carpenter Park.  The walkers can either use the same Creek Path route back to the PD or utilize the signal light intersection pedestrian crosswalk at 30th/Arapahoe back to the PD.

The remaining four and half mile run/bike will be along the Creek Path, from Scott Carpenter Park west to a turn around point on the west end of Boulder High.  From Boulder High, the route will be back along the Creek Path, East to the 38th Street underpass and back to the PD using the North sidewalk of Arapahoe.

Not only will the Creek Path give us a safer route, but it will also allow for additional city department employees and more family members to participate.  "Come one, come all."  Please take any opportunity to pass this information along to our Law Enforcement friends and families.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) registration fee has not increased from last year, $25.00 per participate, however a pledge incentive is built in this year to include a LETR sweatshirt for a $100.00 donation.

Registered participants will also partake in a delicious after event BBQ catered by Lazy Dog Grill at the PD.

Torch Run registrations are in a cardboard box at the front of the Patrol Briefing Room.  Once completed, please forward your registration form and fee to Detective Sgt Dave Seper's mailbox by May 12th, in order to receive your event t-shirt and/or sweatshirt by the May 23rd Torch Run date.  We also need a head count for the BBQ.

As in past Torch Run events, a two-hour shift adjustment is allowed on prior approval from your immediate supervisor, calendar permitting.

On behalf of the BPD Torch Run Committee, thanks in advance for celebrating the opportunities that YOU give our Special Olympic athletes, by participating in the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run.
