A Poem Provided by Doug about McGruff

HAVE YA GOT A MINUTE

HERE COMES MC GRUFF
HE'S ALWAYS ON TIME
HAVE YA GOT A MINUTE?
TO TAKE A BITE OUTTA CRIME!

HE HELPS PEOPLE
TO CROSS THE STREET
HE'S THE SWEETEST GUY
YOU COULD EVER MEET.

WITH LONG BROWN EARS
AND BIG BLACK EYES
HE'S A FRIEND TO ALL
THE "BLUE SUIT" GUYS.

MC GRUFF'S THE NAME
HE'S THE "CRIME STOPPER" DOG
HE'S CHECKIN THINGS OUT
AND KEEPIN A LOG

SO HE CAN BE THERE
TO POINT HIS PAW
AT ALL OF THE PEOPLE
WHO BREAK THE LAW.

HE TALKS TO US ALL
AND SHOWS THE WAY
TO PROTECT WHAT'S OURS
EACH AND EVERY DAY.

SO WHENEVER YOU HAPPEN
TO SEE A CRIME
CHECK YOUR LOCATION
AND LOOK AT THE TIME.

THEN CALL 911
WITHE ALL THE INFORMATION
LEAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER
YOUR NAME AND LOCATION.

MC GRUFF AND HIS FRIENDS
WILL THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME
FOR TAKING THAT MINUTE
TO TAKE A BITE OUTTA CRIME

LAMENT OF A POLICEMAN

My live is an impossible maze
of unrealized dreams.

I live in a harsh, fast moving
world of declining simplicity
and increased sensationalism.

Loved by some, respected by
few, feared by none, and
hated by many,

I strive for peace in a war of
crime and man's inhumanity
to man.

Never knowing final victory, but
very familiar with defeat, I
manage towin some small battles.

I walk a narrow line between
good and evil, forever on my
guard, as I am watched by
those of both sides.

Few understand me, and those
that do cannot help me for
they are like me.

With unsure ground below me,
evil beside me, and "GOD"
above me,

I move slowly onward, away
from adversity, and into the
face of uncertainty.

For all this, my only true
reward is my own peace of mind.
