Roy Chastain
Roy wrote to tell us that while his Father may have been on the wrong side of the law, it had much to do with why he became a police officer. It seems that his Father spent 11 years and nine months and fourteen days in prison in Indiana for robbery and assulting a police officer during the 1930's. Roy writes that he wanted to clear his family name. His Father, by the way was knowns as the Houdini of Lawrenceville, because he escaped from the jails five times before finally getting sent to the "big house. He was let out to figh tin World War II, where he distinguisshed himself as a tank driver and then went on to play with Guy Lombardo and several other big bands. Roy writes that his Father's proudest day was when Roy was in his uniform.
